When guests are coming, no doubt you are anxious to make the guest room comfortable and
inviting. There are a number of things you can do to add a touch of luxury and comfort that will
make your guests feel special. Here are a few tips.
Bedding is everything. You want your guests to have the best night’s sleep possible. A quality
set of sheets that is soft on your skin sets the stage for some good zzz’s. Top it off with a cozy
comforter or duvet and some pretty throw pillows. Some people like extra blankets. You could
use a large floor basket to keep a couple of extra blankets handy. They will feel as if they’re at a
boutique hotel!
Make sure your guests have adequate lighting. A soft overhead light as well as lighting on
either side of the bed. Good options would be two table lamps or a couple of wall lamps for
possible nighttime reading.
To make your guests feel extra special, you could put together a thoughtful welcome basket.
You might include water bottles, tissues, reading material, chocolate and other little snacks. A
vase of fresh flowers by the bed would enhance that special feel.
Don’t forget bathroom essentials. You will need a nice set of guest towels. It is also a nice idea
to put together a collage of toiletries… toothbrushes, deodorant, travel size shampoo and
conditioner, face cleaning wipes and lotion. If your guests forget something, you’ll have them
covered. Arranging these things neatly on a tray or in a basket with the towels stacked beside
them would add an extra touch of class.
When we have guests, we want them to feel welcome and special. Incorporating some of these
ideas will hopefully help you put together a guest room that is comfortable, cozy and makes
your guests feel at home.
